The Best Romance Movies on Netflix Right Now

Tomorrow is the most romantic day of the year, and whether you're the feminine, masculine, or single, we all have plans.

If you're the feminine, here are some movies that you can coerce your boyfriend into watching.

If you're the masculine, you're welcome. Act like you prepared by picking one of these movies, trust me.

If you're single, feel free to avoid this blog post like the plague and order extra chocolate just for you.

I know I loaded up on wine & dark chocolate writing this, so let's get to it!

    5. Blue is the Warmest Color

This film is especially great for LGBTQ lovers, but the message transcends across all sexual identities.

At face value, it is about a young woman who explores her sexual identity with a mystery woman who eventually becomes her lover.

This film however goes past sexual identity so that anybody can relate to exploring themselves romantically through this heartwarming yet heart-wrenching romantic classic.

    4. Atonement

Based on the best-selling Ian McEwan novel from 2001, this romantic war drama chronicles a "crime" and it's rippling effects over sixty years.

You will have to watch the film to understand why I've placed quotation marks around crime, I don't want to ruin it for you.

It's shocking twist ending will be sure to make you reach for the tissues, so be prepared.

    3. Y Tu Mama Tambien

Single people, this one's for you.

This is still a romantic story without a doubt, but not a traditional love story in any sense.

This story follows 2 young boys who leave their girlfriend for the summer for a bachelor life, and happen across an older woman who recently had left her husband.

I won't say anymore, but they adventure together and some pretty intense & interesting events unfold. You'll have to see for yourself to understand.

    2. Sixteen Candles

YES, this is finally on Netflix.

This 80's classic is always good, no matter what time of year it is, but is especially special on Valentine's Day.

If you haven't seen this absolute work of art yet, it follows a 16 year old girl's sixteenth birthday and blossoming. It's great whether you are single or not.

    1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I'll end this post with a movie that works for people both taken and single.

Starring my favorite actor Jim Carrey, this movie ties the whole plot into a nice bow at the very end.

It follows Jim's character falling in love with a mysterious blue haired Kate Winslet, and, well, I'll let you watch the movie. Trust me, it's a good one.

    ----------

There are so many other great romance movies available on Netflix right now, these are just my favorite at the moment.

But if you're a guy reading this with no idea on what to watch with your girlfriend, just pick one of these and you'll be fine. I got your back.

    Happy Valentine's Day!
